A Script idea for Adam on Glee:

Title: Seth

Act One: In the Choir Room
In preparing for Regionals (or State—whatever competition is looming), Mr. Schu decides to bring in a consultant to put a final polish on New Directions’ routine. He tells the group that while he was in college he tutored Seth Graydon in Spanish, and found him to be one of the finest performers he’d ever met. Seth had headed to New York after college, and has just recently left the Broadway production of South Pacific, where he played Lt. Cable, the second male lead. Seth has returned to Ohio for an extended visit, before moving to L.A., and has agreed to consult. Mr. Schu tells the Glee kids that Seth is pretty “out there” but can help them perfect their act.

At rehearsal the next day, Seth (Adam Lambert) enters looking entirely street glam, complete with guyliner, black emo hair and nails polished to a fair-thee-well and very stylish clothes. The Glee kids react to him in different ways: Puck and the jocks are taken aback by his flamboyance, the girls are all charmed, and Kurt is wide-eyed and completely blown away by his utter fabulousness. Seth takes it all in stride, and does a number with the group, with Rachel taking the female lead role and Kurt feeling tentative in front of a potential hero.

Act Two: Around School
In the hallways, Kurt sees Seth deal with negative comments from other kids, notably the jocks, with a deft balance of charm and witty, snarky retorts. He also sees that the girls are fawning over him and seem unable to stop themselves from touching him. Again, Kurt is amazed at the self-confidence oozing from Seth, and comments to Mercedes that he would love to be able to handle himself that well. Mercedes goes all fangirly, and tells him that there is only one Seth Graydon, but that Kurt should watch and learn.

In Principal Figgins’ office, Mr. Schu and Sue argue about Sue’s latest machinations to take money from Glee, which has forced Figgins to cut the budget for new costumes and sets for the upcoming competition, leaving New Directions with the daunting task of raising $2,500 to pay for them.

Back in the choir room, Mr. Schu interrupts Seth working with the Glee Kids. He tells them about needing money, and Seth volunteers to headline a benefit for New Directions if the Glee Kids will participate. Only the jocks remain less than enthusiastic , but Finn tells them to suck it up because Seth has the power to help them get what they need. They reluctantly agree.

Act Three
In the auditorium, Mr. Schu hands out music for the first benefit number, which features Seth in a big Broadway-style number, with the Glee kids backing him up. Kurt stays to speak to Seth after rehearsal and hmms and haws and finally asks him how he came to be so free-spirited and how he learned to deflect gay insults so nonchalantly. Seth tells him how hard high school was for him, too, but he learned to accept himself and let go of shame forever. He tells Kurt that he just needs to accept his own fabulousness, and says he has an idea…

Act Four:
Shownight. Camera dollies from the back of a full, noisy auditorium through the house to backstage dressing room. Seth and the Glee kids are costumed and made up in fabulous glam with lots and lots of glitter. Puck and the boys grumble about it, but they’re on board. Seth gives them a pep talk about the joy of singing, and reminds them of Lillian Adler’s quote, “By its very definition, Glee is about opening yourself up to joy.” Places are called, and the curtain rises on a glittery showstopper ala The Zodiac Show with Kurt and Seth sharing the spotlight. Tumultuous applause when the number is over.

Cut to outside the auditorium, where Seth is being mobbed mostly by girls wanting pictures and autographs. Kurt stands watching slightly apart from the jocks, who are amazed. Puck says admiringly, “Look at those girls! They can’t get enough of this guy!” Just then a very pretty girl with a small, pretty, wide-eyed boy, leaves the crowd around Seth and comes up to Kurt and says shyly, “My brother and I would like your autograph.” Kurt smiles and takes the sharpie, making flirty small talk while Puck and the jocks gape. Seth catches Kurt’s eye and they both smile, Seth raising one eyebrow.

Back in the choir room the next day, the Glee Kids are bidding Seth goodbye and thanking him for all his help. We hear that they raised twice what they needed for the costumes and sets, so they should be set for nationals as well. He tells them to keep him posted on how they do in the competition. Rachel tells him that she doesn’t understand why he left South Pacific on Broadway, and Seth asks them all if they can keep a secret. They nod their acquiescence and Seth tells them he has made the top 36 contestants on American Idol, and he hopes it will change his life and his art forever.
