Although this is a rather late review, looking back to the American Idol 2008 Tour, I would say that it was the best concert I have went to. However, even though I have never been to other American Idol Tours, I would say that this one was Awesome!

At the day of the concert, at 5pm, my dad had brought me to the Oakland Stadium, and when we got there, I noticed on the right of the stadium, there were tour buses, and right then, I figured that those were the buses that the celebs were riding on for the Tour. The only Idol that I actually got to talk to and take a picture with was Michael Sarver. He is a good singer, but I never actually got the chance to get to know him better not like the other Idols. =/

I would say that the overall concert was spectacular! In the stadium, we didn't really sit close to the stage, but we didn't even sit high up either. We were section E on the main floor, Row 1. Not to high, not to low; just right. Also, I was able to see the Idols in perfect distance. Anyways, I just loved how they started out the show, from Michael Sarver singing his song, (I forgot what song it was), to Matt Giraud singing, You found me, from the Fray. There was an intermission at that point. After that came Alison Iraheta singing Baracuda from Heart, and it was so Awesome! She is like a razing rock and roll girl. I actually want to be like her, but I still need to practice my guitar a little bit more. =)

Anyways, I loved Danny Gokey's performance of P.Y.T. You know how I am. I love Michael Jackson's songs and he sang it perfectly. But, when Adam came out, I just screamed my lungs out! He was so awesome. My fave songs that he sang was Mad World, and Whole Lotta Love. They were absolutely perfect but the part that I would say that was to die for was after he sang "Whole Lotta Love", he took off his dark black Jacket and all that stood under that Jacket was a white tank top along with a whole lotta sexy tan muscular body,(btw, I know that he's gay).

At the end of the concert, I managed to get a few autographs from the Idols, such as Alison Iraheta's, Megan's, Kris Allen's, Matt Giraud's, Danny's, Annop's, and Michael's. I don't mind not receiving an autograph from Lil rounds and Scott because they already by-passed me but then I was kinda bummed that I didn't get Adam's autograph. Right when my dad and I ran to the Bart Train, there were some teenagers on the train that managed to get adams signature. (I know right?) I asked them how they managed to get his autograph and when he actually came out. Adam came out 5 minutes after we have ran to the Bart Train and it was about midnight. How lame adam... (no offense adam if you're reading this. It's just that I was just so looking forward to meeting you and you are my favorite Idol.) In the future, I'm assuming he will become so famous that there will be people that won't be able to get his autograph. I'll bet you that!

I've gone to every Idol Concert since season 1. This was by far the most exciting concert of all eight seasons. I was lucky to have 4th row seats and a spectacular view of Adam's sexy persona. This represents my perspective on the Adam Lambert Concert.

A disclaimer: I’m providing YouTube links to his Oakland performance. I did not take this video. I was taken by a YouTube user named Uuliani who captured some great footage. The vantage point seemed to a few seats down from where we were siting and possibly one row back. He/she did an excellent job capturing the entire concert. If he/she ever reads this – A big thank you for capturing the memory!

As with all the other Idol Concerts, I was not looking forward to the long wait for Adam's set. However, as in all other concerts (I should have learned a lesson by now) the other Idols were actually pretty good. They were musically more cohesive, entertaining and the audience, including me, seemed to enjoy their performances.

As the countdown to Number 2 came closer, the audience was more responsive in part because of anticipation but also the idols all were giving very good performances.

Then, the moment arrived. Lights flashed like fireworks on the 4th of July, The lights were accompanied by sonic booms announcing the Adam Bomb hat arrived. The Bomb descended singing his signature tribute to sexiness, Whole Lotta Love. The audience went wild letting him know that there was as much love in the audience as there was on stage!

Adam introduced the audience to the work of an UK indie group who he’s said in the past that’s he’s very fond of. He performed Starlight my Muse. The song laments leaving people who care about you on a journey into the unknown, questioning whether the search for starlight is worth it anymore. Here is where we experienced the purity of his voice, extraordinary I couldn’t help but think, was he speaking to his fans when he sang:

And I'll never let you go
If you promise not to fade away
Never fade away.

Adam's interpretation of music is incredible only surpassed by his amazing voice. If those in the audience had any question about this ability, it was answered by his rendition of Mad World. A haunting, heartfelt performance that left many (including myself) with tears streaming down their face. It was an interesting reaction for me because this song has been done so many times on various TV shows. However, the impact of seeing it live added a whole new intimate dimension which can’t be adequately captured on television.

Link: (same as for Muse – Starlight, above)

We were the treated to a performance by Adam and “his sister.” Allison and Adam performed their enjoyable rendition of Slow Ride. Now, here is where television has an advantage. I enjoyed the AI performance a lot. I loved the reaction they had to each other. They kind of egged each other on, I loved it. Unfortunately, these moments were done toward the back of the stage and, while you could see they were interacting, you couldn’t see their expressions. I think these moments should have been done at the front of the stage with a bit more lighting. Having said that, the Adam and Allison’s vocals were top notch. The whole segment was fun and a joy to watch.

With Starlight Adam seemed to be preparing us for a journey and asked us to stick by him. But why? It seemed to me that his answer was in his last performance, a David Bowie medley. Life on Mars was clearly a tribute Bowie, complete with a hint of an English accent. They only difference between Adam’s version and Bowie’s was Adam’s incredible range and ability to sustain notes that is beyond human. After his thank you to his Idol, Adam signaled what’s to come by symbolically removing his leather trench coat. His last two numbers set the arena on fire. His performance of Fame was electric.. He epitomized sexy. Apparently, some woman (I assume) thought so too as she cast her bra onto the stage. Adams reaction: “Yeah!” as he tossed it back into the audience. His last number in the medley invited us to “dance with me and I’ll set you free.” There were a lot of people set free that night! His exhilarating performance had the audience charged. Where do find someone with such an amazing voice and the ability to capture an audience with his sensual performance. You find it at an Adam Lambert Concert!

We had one last Glimpse of Adam was in the finale. The group of eight performed Don’t Stop Believing. Scott and Matt started it off my performing a piano duo. They were escorted back to the group and a few moment later Kradam, our American Idols rose up from beneath the stage.

It was a rousing number that had the audience on their feet with the appearance of Kradam.

We all know Adam’s back story and it was truly fulfilling to see him attain his dream. I, for one will be looking forward to his CD in the fall and, hopefully, his concert tour next spring.

This concert was absolutely amazing. The whole arena was packed and everytime even a picture of adam came onto the screen, EVERYONE screamed super loud. I got some really good pictures too! And Adam out performed everyone. He was absolutely breathtaking. And I got to meet him. I spoke to him and got his autograph. It was an unforgettable experience dude.

Adam totally rocked it out on the stage last night in the Oracle Arena! He stole the show I might say as well! ... I felt a little bad for Kris having to follow his set! It was great meeting him and getting his autograph after the show as well! I'm sad it's all over now Sad LOVE YOU ADAM

My husband and I figured we would wait for a REAL Adam Lambert concert, but I have been going through "Adam withdrawal", watching and reading everything I can about himn on the internet. I am happy to say I have talked my husband into going to this concert for our Anniversary and I cannot wait to see him. I also am a big fan of Allison, Kris, and a few of the others - so I know it will be worth it. I just hope a lot of focus goes to the top performers. I can't wait!

I have 1-2 hard tickets to see ADAM in Oakland - row 14 in section F seat 3 and 4. I need to sell each for $135 if you know anyone who wants it. Comparable seats going for so much more. Let me know-email me at wiseanalysts@yahoo.com

I have to go even if my Idol did not win! I want to know if anyone knows what seating configuration they are going to use for the AL concert? I have seen three and I want to be as close to stage as possible! I am going by myself, because no one else I know wants to go. Does anyone else want to go in with me and buy a ticket? They are sold in pairs and I am going to get as good a seats as I can I am looking at within 12 rows from stage. Anyone interested can email me at:

In case you didn't see it yet, if you go to the COMMUNITY link at the top, and under TOUR TALK, click on WEST COAST, you find a whole thread devoted to this Oakland July 11th show..

Apparently this thread is for POST-SHOW 'REVIEWS', and for attendees to register in advance, so we can count the numbers planning to attend..

So come on over to TOUR TALK under COMMUNITY section and join in the 'PRE-SHOW' conversation over there! Eye-wink

I'm thinking about trying to get tickets for Oakland as well. Not sure if I want to go out of town alone tho.

annieoakland

Can't wait to see Adam in Oakland! Wanted him to win so he'd get the most songs to sing on tour, but will galdly sit thru everyone else to hear Adam (and hopefully an Adam and Allison duet!). ....
and I'll be waiting along with you for the "Adam Lambert Superstar Concert" to get the ultimate Adam fix Smiling
CAN YOU JUST IMAGINE WHAT AN AMAZING CONCERT THAT WILL BE !!!!!!! Sticking out tongueSticking out tongue

dreadnought

I will be at this concert (it's on my 22nd birthday!!) I know it's going to be awesome.

Of course it would make my birthday (and my year) to meet Adam there, but I'll be content just to hear his wonderful music. Smiling

I wish he could sing everything he sang on Idol for the concert. I don't need anybody else - well, a song each from Allison and Kris would be cool, I guess - just Adam. I suppose I'll have to wait until the first Adam Lambert Superstar Concert to get an unadulterated Adam fix. Smiling
