This album does exactly what you intended it to - it entertains! I have been a fan from day 1, but I wondered what you'd do when you were no longer singing old favorites. It was hard to decide at first, because I'm kinda "old-school" and clung a bit to the Idol CD I recorded of you. I took my time really digesting the album from the easier-for-me-to-like Soaked, on through to the more dance-y, tech-y numbers. It was easy to pick who wrote what because the sound of them was familiar and could have been forgettable, but what made the songs work was YOU. You are the FACTOR that folks have got to account for. It is your charisma, your wonderful natural-looking acting ability, and your incomparable instrument that elevate the experience.
I spent years avoiding current "popular" music because I couldn't find a voice to make me feel that deep-in-the-belly curl of pleasure or the almost-painful knot of emotion in the chest that some legendary vocalists could evoke. I want to thank you for reawakening the long slumbering beast! Your set at the NYC Highline Concert was astonishingly superb! Here I thought I was far beyond bothering with a mad crush of overheated, straining bodies yearning toward a stage after hours of waiting in the cold. Hehehe . . . that'll teach me!! I'm just as mesmerized as the teenagers and senior citizens of every conceivable sort that I was surrounded by! The concert had a real rocker-edge to it, and I have to admit it improved the LIVE experience exponentially.
