Trespassing Promo, London, February 2, 2012, AKA Part 2 where I get thoughtful and a little philosophical:
I'm still smiling.
I still can't believe that he was actually there - standing right in front of me - Like, within arms reach! I wish for each and everyone one of you to have this experience!
So, Adam started signing things for people and then I talked to him, then I was trying to move out of the way so other people could talk to him. I asked him for a picture and he kind of leaned over towards me. I asked a fellow who was there to take the photo - unfortunately, he couldn't figure out which button was the shutter so I ended up with a very very odd picture where I was reaching out for the camera and tilting my chin up to see which button he was pushing. Of course, that's when the picture got taken! lol I think it was at this point that I became a bit overwhelmed and breathless... it was like the longer I was around him the MORE unreal and amazing it became maybe because I was slowly comprehending that Adam Lambert was right next to me!
I had a couple of moments like that - the first one was when he entered the building to go up to the Heat offices. I went around to the entrance and watched as he entered the elevators (or lifts as they call them here). He's standing in the lobby, and he took off his sunglasses and I got a brief glimpse of his profile. His sunglasses completely hid his eyes and half of his face and just getting that little bit of exposed face time was the most amazing thing in the whole world! There were his eyelashes and the apples of his cheeks - I nearly fainted!
The second was sometime after I had my picture taken with him. I turned around and tried to get out of the way and ended up helping a couple of other people get photos so I was able to really look at him up close. He has the most radiant, beautiful smile - even with his face half covered with his sunglasses
I have had the supreme amazing good fortune and blessing to have interacted with Adam on three occasions (this being the third). The first was after an American Idols concert (I wrote it up on another blog - here on my AO profile). The second, which I haven't really shared with anyone, was at a pre-concert meet and greet. This time in London, his energy felt more centered, more at peace, more focused and he also felt more comfortable around the fans than ever before. Even my wife commented on it. And every time he had a picture taken with someone, he would exclaim, "Yay!!!" afterwards - like he was so excited to make the person happy. But I also thought, Awwwwww, he's picking up little Sauli characteristics!
It was so adorable... My wife said, "They are so in looooooooove!" when I told her about Sauli's little "Yays" he puts in his blog. He was lovely to every person he interacted with, even the woman at the end that he had to tell to back off because she had had enough time with him.
Well, he made a quick exit into his van. Didn't really look back. I saw him through the dark tinted windows, a dim outline with his sunglasses on as he was driven off. Funny how these little moments never feel like quite enough in the end, but I think that's the nature of the beast when it comes to being a fan, isn't it. We love this amazing person from afar and perhaps get lucky enough for a 1 or 2 minute interaction but we can never truly know them. My only hope with each of these meetings has been that I could give to him some small spark of energy and love back to him that I feel he has given to me through his art, even as I can tell that he is trying to fulfill what he thinks our needs are in these fan interactions-to meet him and have a physical connection with him beyond the stage.
