i love how you are so down to earth. you dont milk this whole thing, you appreciate it, and you always thank us. but i would like to get the chance to thank you. SO THANK YOU ADAM AMAZING LAMBERT! haha
Now we hear that Adam is being stalked? I hope Adam that you are not using this as an excuse not to have to sign autographs for all of the female fans that love you. Please reassure us that this is not the case.
Adam i am a 51 year old woman who thinks you rock! So were are the T-Shirts so we can let EVERYONE know we support you?Oh and by the way I love you just the way you are-keep singing with yhat beautiful voice of yours.
After hearing your version of Kara's song that got blasted by everyone and, I have to admit I was one of them....you have to give her props for the No Bounderies song.
What I like about the studio versions the most is they allow Adam time to develop the song and use some really interesting vocal flourishes that the shorter live versions did not allow. To illustrate I will use Feeling Good. The live version was great (Duh!) but the studio version allowed Adam to really show what he is capable of vocally. The studio version of feeling good is full of delightful turns and thrills, I absolutely loved it and so did many others. Another example would be One. The live version was way to short. One is very rhythmic and has that repeating line that the longer version emphasizes. The studio version is so much better than the live version. I will say that Adam is the type of entertainer who is the whole package. It is never enough just to hear him, we have to see him perform as well. I can't wait until the videos with the new album come out. Just my proverbial two cents!!! Go Adam!!!!
Some artists have what you call a studio voice and do better in the studio than live and some are able to sing their songs live same as the recorded version. With AI, it was reversed (first live, then recording), and this is perhaps why you were thrown off or a little disappointed with the recorded versions. Maybe it's a visual thing, you want to see him LIVE! Also, we have to take into consideration that we only heard a minute or so of the 'live' stuff and the recordings are the full versions, we can't possibly compare. Take the song No Boundaries, Adam sounds great with the recorded version verses the live performance obviously in the studio they have the capabilities of enhansing the vocals and the sound. But, this is probably a bad example because he and Kris did not have enough time to rehearse the song, and 'live' it wasn't that impressionable. I bet you had Adam had enough time to rehearse, he would have nailed it. But I believe that Adam did mention that it is infact a hard song to sing live, his voice did crack a little, but just a little. From what I have observed, perhaps Adam is a better 'live' performer than in the studio, don't know I'm not an expert, I might be jumping to conclusions. All in all, Adam did a smashing job on AI as he delivered week after week top notch performances. 'Crying' was one of my favorite, he seemed proud to sing that song, but I think I know why looking back at the prior weeks performances of a certain someone, won't say who. LOL! Let's wait for his album to hit the market and maybe then when we hear him singing live his own songs we will be able to make an assessment. On a personal note, I liked every live performance, and all of the recorded material as well. My best performance has to be by far his rendition of 'Change Is Gonna Come', he sang it with so much control and conviction accompanied with the extraordinary vocals, it blew me away. I won't get into 'WHOLE LOTTA LOVE', I'm already sweating here.
Thanks cindy0321 for sharing the long interview video. The videos that some fans post are so much more updated than what is posted by Adam's official website.
I hate to agree with sheelagh's comment about Adam's studio recording of his idol songs, but I do agree. Even after playing his live performances for over hundred times, sometimes it still brings tears to my eyes or a smile to my face. However, the studio recordings which I downloaded do not do that. Not only is his voice not the same, but on a scale of 1 to 100, the live performance is definitely 120 but the studio is only perhaps 80 to 90. I also happened to watch some of the video recordings from the idol tour, perhaps it was the poor sound quality but the singing felt like he was doing a job.The idol competition singing was more solid and true, and felt much more connected to him. I hope it was just the rush in recording the studio versions, and the producers that he is working with now on his album will be able to bring out the true quality of his singing, and not made in a rush.
Just wanted to say thanks to cindy0321 for the link to that long interview. It was great! Thanks to all other Adam fans for the links you provide. We really appreciate it!
Adam How can anyone think that you are not the biggest star on the tour. Everyone enjoys a good kareoke show noe and then but it is few and far between when you get to see a real star perform and you are truly that star. I have never seen anyone who moves me as much as you do. Love you, Love your videos, Love everything about you. Keep giving us more of you.
BTW I agree with the comments about studio versions being better. I have downloaded the live performances and the studio versions and the studio versions really showcase Adam's vocal ability. Like Simon said, the vocals are impeccable. His showmanship can be seen in the idol live performances, and I like those to. Especially BTBW and WLL. I think its good for an artist to change their sets a bit when they are performing and keep them fresh.
How about posting review links and updates on performances of Adams? This just came out on MTV, another great review for Adam. Not surpisingly. Adam hypnotizes the audience in LA. This is a good article.
I don't know what versions you guys are listening to...but in my opinion the studio versions are fantastic. They may not have some of the raw emotion you get from a live performance but isn't that true of all live vs. recorded artists? I think we are biased toward the live b/c we can VISUALIZE him singing them in the competition (I've lost count of the times I've watched Ring of Fire and I do prefer the live version b/c it evokes such passion) and visualizing Adam is always a good thing!! But personally I feel some of the recorded versions are better (ie Mad World, Cryin'). And in general, I feel the production quality and his performances in the recordings are both great. Just my humble opinion.
Adam, UP CLOSE. Great interview. Apparently "the meet and greets before and after the show are the most exhausting" as he stated in an article (which I can't find now for some reason, sorry).
I truly felt I wasn't the lone ranger here and I'm glad to have a confirming feedback. I was totally shocked when I went to you tube searching to pull up full versions of his idol songs and found these studio versions and the fact that they didn't even come close to the way he sang on idol.
And I don't understand why they are recorded that way and not the way he preformed on idol. I would love to have full versions of all the songs he sang on idol...but I want full versions of exactly the way he perfomed them on idol.
Does he not hear the difference? I hope this blog will point it out and put an emphasis on the fact that he shouldn't make us fall in love with what we first saw and then jerk the rug out from underneath us, because if we fall, he falls with us.
I won't buy the studio versions. They are horrible. And I have bragged about Adam to everyone I've talked to that wasn't an Idol watcher. I think he is the absolute most exciting performer I have ever seen. A true phenomina! But I wouldn't want anyone to hear me brag about him, and then pull up the studio versions. They'd think I lost my mind.
Mainstream America, the people with money, the ones who will finacially support him, want the Adam Lambert they fell in love with as they watched week to week on Idol. They want the phenominal way in which he performed each and every song right down to the wardrobe changes, the hair styles, and most of all his renditions of each and every song. "Mad World was brilliant, the first performance that is. Even Simon didn't like his finale performance. I didn't care for it like the first performance.
I could watch him 100 times over and over perform that song exactly the way he did the first time and never get tired of it. And the same goes for every song he sang. And if he continues singing them the way he did on Idol and performing them the way he did on Idol, he'll be a rich man!
Did Elvis sing "Were Caught in a Trap" or "Jail House Rock" two different ways? Did Michael Jackson sing "Give in to Me" or "Human Nature" two different way? And if you are blessed to sing a rendition of a song better than the original artist why go and record it worse than the original rendition or original artist?
I hope he can pull it back on track or get hooked back up to the good advice he was giving himself, or the good advice someone else was giving him when he was singing and performing off the chart during American Idol, or I fear he'll be like a pop bottle rocket and come down as fast as he went up, and I don't want that. Adam is the first performer to thrill me in a long time and I want to keep on being thrilled. He's amazing and I want him to keep on being amazing. I want him to climb the ladder, not fall off of it.
I would have to say that in my personal opinon "some" of the studio versions were better on the CD and "some" of the live versions were better. I think it's a matter of taste. I much preferred the live version of "Tracks of My Tears" without the annoying backup singers on the CD, however, they might have been trying to get an "old" feel to it like when Elvis had his back up singers (which I still personally wish weren't there, but again, just my opinion). Either way, we have to remember that it's American Idol and the "studio" seems to be rather limited/lacking. I consider that whole CD to simply be a sample of vocal ability with much less attention or concern for the rest. I'm sure that his new CD will not be like that. All in all though, his voice is superb period and I've found myself blocking out the backup singers just so that I can hear Adam sing the song because his voice is amazing. I just love him soooooo much and I DID BUY THE CD AND I LOVE IT. I think I've hit replay on 90 % of the songs with geez, I don't know, my favourite being "ONE", no, no "MAD WORLD", no, no wait......"FEELIN' GOOD"....no,no.....aw heck, I just love listening to him sing.
The studio versions of his songs are BLAH! All the ones I have downloaded and on my iPod are his live versions, which sound so much better and more interesting. When they studioized it, he sounds a lot like everyone else. I sure hope this won't be the case for his upcoming album!
When I first heard the studio versions of Adam's American Idol songs I was so disappointed. I believe that it's because he has spent so many years on stage and he is a master at working with an audience, reflecting back and forth. But he is not so experienced as a recording artist and he is having to learn on the job. I don't know who produced his vocals for the studio versions but they suck! It's as if they just went in and laid it down in between everything else. I was thinking that a good producer would have brought a crowd into the control room and made sure that Adam was performing for them, not for a microphone. His singing is so perfect that there is no need to be self-conscious about recording and besides, these days technology can correct any little flaws anyway. So he might as well let loose. He lost dynamics, swing, edge, expression -- everything! on those studio versions. Hopefully the producers he has now who are supposed to be the best in the business will be able to eke out a great performance from him on a recording. What I want to know is where is Arif Mardin now that we need him. Now that guy knew how to get it going on a recording (Aretha Franklin, for example).
I'm one of your biggest fans and your talent absolutely leaves me in a state of awe! You can read my other post and see that I think you have the ability to be a world wide icon. During the American Idol episodes your performances were incredible, unbelieveable, and amazing! I have never seen, in my opinion, a performer as good as you. Every song you sang, you did it better than the original artists. Every performance was perfection, heart-felt vocals, amazing expression, and every single thing about the way you sang and performed every song was off the chart fabulous. Again, in my opinion that is, and I bet many would agree with me. Your performances took a nation of viewers captive, and I was just taken away with your talent.
However, with all this said, I have to tell you that the studio versions that I have listened to on you tube are terrible. And I have to ask the question: Why? Your version of "Mad World" when you performed on Idol was out of this world! The studio version on you tube is awful.
When you sang "Tracks of My Tears" on Idol I felt sorry for Smokey Robinson because your version put him to shame. The studio version on you tube is awful. When you sang "Play that Funky Music" and "Ring of Fire" on Idol, I bet my neighbors heard me clapping! The you tube studio versions are awful. When you sang "Black or White" on Idol, I thought you were far better than Michael Jackson. The you tube versions are shockingly bad. Why?
You have got to record and perform your songs with the amazing display of performance that you displayed on Idol. You received a standing ovation every time you turned around because your manner of performance in which you sang these songs. The studio versions on you tube won't sell. They won't make you famous. The manner in which you performed on Idol is what will sell out arenas and cd's. And the manner in which you performed on Idol is what will sail you to the top of stardom and put you on the top of the list next to all time great performers. These you tube versions are mediocre and nothing to brag about. Please keep singing the way you did on Idol. Especially "Mad World". Every other version you have sung doesn't hold a candle to the way you performed it during American Idol, the first performance, not the finale.
I hope that you will be far more famous than you ever dreamed of and far more rich that you can count, and I just don't think that these you tube studio versions will acheive that for you, or that veering away from the way you did your performances on Idol will sail you to the top. And I think if you did a poll, you would find that the majority would agree. Now at the risk of sounding pompous, and God knows I don't want to come off that way, I think if you'll take my advice to heart your career will thrive and will have the longevity that I know you, and especially the fans, will want.
It is fun to read and post. Most of my friends try to humor me, but they don't really get my passion for our magical man....oh well, their loss.
I feel so lucky to have seen Adam in concert in Portland, and then stood a foot from him while he signed his picture. I will treasure that moment forever. He was so happy that night, lovely and gracious to all.
Adam, like you, I dreamed of being a rock star... You're making your dream come true!!! I really look up to you for that...This is a point in my life where Im confused about everything!! Its good to have a good role model...Like YOU!!! XD
...glad you got a little smile out of those lyrics! And thanks for mentioning it! It's fun to read the messages, and "it's all good". I loved the: "His little butt looks cute in the jeans" comment. tee hee...
The first word I used to describe Adam's Black/White performance was 'surreal'...I knew then that I was watching something/someone way beyond the normal. Adam is beautiful inside & out. Thank you Adam for developing your talent and having the fortitude to appear on American Idol and bringing such joy to so many.
Thank you so much! That was just wonderful. I have always loved that that song, when I was a young girl it always made me think of the enchanting boy in the book "The Secret Garden".
Yes, maybe not "shy and sad of eye", but certainly vulnerable and wise.
You made my day, can't get our "nature boy" out of my head. Anyway, why would I want to
(OldFlowerChild said beautifully - back on 7/13 - what I feel, so rather than repeat... here are a couple of quotes and a lyric that remind me of you...)
"Beauty is a spark for social change"
~Terry Tempest Williams, May 2009
******************************************
There was a boy
A very strange, enchanted boy
They say he wandered very far, very far
Over land and sea.
A little shy and sad of eye
But very wise was he.
And then one day,
One magic day he passed my way
And though we spoke of many things, fools and kings
This he said to me,
"The greatest thing you'll ever learn
is just to love and be loved in return."
~ lyric, "Nature Boy"
Eden Ahbez, 1947
(famously recorded by Nat "King" Cole, David Bowie, and others)
...I don't know about the "shy & sad of eye" part, but still...
*****************************************************************************
"His face was luminous and serene, and, when his eyes met mine, I felt he saw the most intimate recesses of my soul. I saw myself reflected in him as in a mirror and in his eyes I seemed to look upon myself. ...and the moment I felt there was nothing before me except the blue sky, within me a window opened through which I could see unearthly things and hear unearthly words."
~ P.D. Ouspensky, "The Symbolism of the Tarot" 1913

Once again Adam proves what a articulate, intelligent, warm, caring, beautiful, charming, sweetheart of a person he is. Anxiously awaiting his arrival in Chicago. Thanks to my fellow Adamaniacs, I can follow each and every performance until September. Be still my heart--you make me wish I were a man!!!!! :):):):)
Hey everyone! Yesterday I just attended the awesome concert in Salt Lake City, UT. It was awesome! I recorded it on my cellphone but I havn't been able to upload it but I hope to upload it soon. I'll put it on my Adam Lambert fan site (Glambert Nation. Our boy was uber hot! It's a must see!
Adamdevotee's word adamnesiac is perfect. I had the day off and spent it in front of my computer watching everything Adam I could find. No chores done (barely anyway). Videos over and over. Love Let's Dance! I Love Adam!!!
I agree with swwood's comment about the so-called "Christian" protesters. I, too, am a Christian and I love Adam. They could be out protesting ANY singer in the world for what they perceive as "imperfections" because no one would be perfect in their eyes. The ironic thing is that they are NOT perfect themselves. God created Adam and has blessed him with an awesome gift that we all now get to enjoy. God doesn't make any "mistakes." Way to go Adam...we all love you!
There was only one Elvis, only one MJ... People lament the idols who are gone, but we must be open to those that we have no idea are on their way! Adam is one of a kind! His time has come.
To swwood: Please tell us who hurts Adam. I don't know what's going on. The only thing I know is Adam is amazing as a person and as a singer/entertainer that God sent him here on this earth in time of need. We all need him and let him be a part of our lives. We all love him dearly and wish him the best of success.
If you are referring to the question which was asked on the AT40 where a fan actually calls in and asks Adam out on a date. What type of a reply were you expecting from him, honestly. YEAH SURE HONEY, I'LL SEE YOU LATER. And to say that women are making his career. Reality check, Adam is making his career with his exceptional talent. If a woman is lame enough to ask such a stupid question and putting him on the spot ( which many have done) he has a right to reply in such a manner. I understand where you are coming from, we all love and adore him. Let's all concentrate on his music, his exceptional vocals, and when his first album is completed, let's all go out and buy and show him how much we appreciate and support him. Talent like Adam is a rare one, please remember that.
By the way, I never heard Adam say he doesn't like women, they are just not his preference.
My goodness, I couldn't have said it any better myself! That pretty much sums the situation, no? I love your comment! ADAM is all that and then some! Sigh! LOL
ADAM, I am very upset with the Christian hypocrites picking on you. True Christians do not behave in that mannner. True Christians love each and every person the same because he or she is their brother or sister. Even if they don't believe in you, they should not degrade you. I am sure you have encountered it before, but it is wrong, wrong, wrong! I hate it!
ADAM, I am also saddened that those hypocrites' main goal was to hurt you. I cannot believe "Christians" casting the first stone. Something is very, very wrong with that picture.
ADAM, I personally believe you are fabulous. Everything about you is fabulous. I hope the actions an ignorant few will not make you feel negatively about Christians. I am a Christian who tries very hard to treat others as I would like to be treated.
I love you and am proud of you. I am proud of your personal integrity. I am proud of your honesty. I am mostly proud that you are so calm (seemingly at least) in the wake of all the hate and ignorance. Living well (classy!) is truly the best revenge.
ADAM, I wish you the very best of everything. You deserve it. I cannot wait to see your show in Greensboro on Aug. 2. There are 18 days left! Yes, I have done the math! LOL
I don't know if you should have told that woman that she isn't your type. It is us women after all that are making your career. You know that. Just say something like you will have to check out your schedule. You really don't have time to date new people. She will understand. You may not like women but we are making your career!!!!

As much as we'd love to have a meal with you and get to know you on a person-to-person level, don't think for a moment that we don't both see and love the real you - even the strawberry blonde hair lurking under the dark.
Your spirit is so pure and you've been so open and honest with us that your real self shines through. We love the smoke and mirrors but we love you more!
I don't think this web site is what we thought it would be. It was supposed to let us know when Adam would be on TV or whatever. He was on with Kris subbing for Ryan Seacrest on the top 40 show and I had to find out somewhere else. I do love Adam and I don't want to miss him on any show he is on. I would cancel plans to see him. This site should let us know.

Adam,
I'm one of your biggest fans and your talent absolutely leaves me in a state of awe!
Sincerely,
Sheelagh
It is fun to read and post. Most of my friends try to humor me, but they don't really get my passion for our magical man....oh well, their loss.
I feel so lucky to have seen Adam in concert in Portland, and then stood a foot from him while he signed his picture. I will treasure that moment forever. He was so happy that night, lovely and gracious to all.
Adam, like you, I dreamed of being a rock star... You're making your dream come true!!! I really look up to you for that...This is a point in my life where Im confused about everything!! Its good to have a good role model...Like YOU!!! XD
Takes me back to my Elvis days--Yes, I'm a cougar--& have been awaken--THANK GOD!!!!
...glad you got a little smile out of those lyrics!
To Anne Hedonia,
Thank you so much! That was just wonderful. I have always loved that that song, when I was a young girl it always made me think of the enchanting boy in the book "The Secret Garden".
Yes, maybe not "shy and sad of eye", but certainly vulnerable and wise.
You made my day, can't get our "nature boy" out of my head. Anyway, why would I want to
(OldFlowerChild said beautifully - back on 7/13 - what I feel, so rather than repeat... here are a couple of quotes and a lyric that remind me of you...)
"Beauty is a spark for social change"
~Terry Tempest Williams, May 2009
******************************************
There was a boy
A very strange, enchanted boy
They say he wandered very far, very far
Over land and sea.
A little shy and sad of eye
But very wise was he.
And then one day,
One magic day he passed my way
And though we spoke of many things, fools and kings
This he said to me,
"The greatest thing you'll ever learn
is just to love and be loved in return."
~ lyric, "Nature Boy"
Eden Ahbez, 1947
(famously recorded by Nat "King" Cole, David Bowie, and others)
...I don't know about the "shy & sad of eye" part, but still...
*****************************************************************************
"His face was luminous and serene, and, when his eyes met mine, I felt he saw the most intimate recesses of my soul. I saw myself reflected in him as in a mirror and in his eyes I seemed to look upon myself. ...and the moment I felt there was nothing before me except the blue sky, within me a window opened through which I could see unearthly things and hear unearthly words."
~ P.D. Ouspensky, "The Symbolism of the Tarot" 1913

What a mess!! Anyway, these tweets are hilarious. I guess now we just wait it out and check back for more updates.

I Love Adam!!!
omg i love adam so much i am a huge fan i go on this web site every day i love it i want to go see him on tour but i cant i love adam

LOL
Love,
Saundra

Can't wait to see you Adam on September 1st.
