Loved Linda Perry in 4 Non Blonds - so glad she's still writing - I thought 'A Loaded Smile' was more about someone in a relationship that doesn't really want to be there but can't let go - open to many interpretations I think - either way I love the song and Adam's vocal performance on it (the ending needs re-mixed though - can't hear what he's singing from "makes me want you baby' thro to "everything falls....Don't mean to criticize but, I tend to call it as I see it. Doesn't mean I don't love it - one of my favorites off the album.
I just love his music. He is so good at expressing himself and amazing voice he give it all he has I love the track by track can't wait till I get to here what he says about the others especially Broken Open. That one has got me in awe. It is so beautiful. I love u Adam Lambert, keep doing this and being yourself cause we love it!!! I can't wait till I get to see him in concert myself...

Loved hearing the analysis and meaning....the song is GENIUS!! Could be a movie script, in fact. When I hear Adam talk about his appreciation and feeling and understanding of each song, I realize over and over that not only is he gifted with a magnificent voice and beautiful face but he just eminates the soul of each song and that, in the final analysis, is why they come out as ......... MAGIC!!
Adam ...
I love this entire album, but I do have 'favorite favorites' if that makes any sense ... I have a feeling you all get it ...
The 3 true ballads on this album - Soaked, A Loaded Smile and Broken Open hold a very special place in my heart ... I can't separate them in my mind or heart for how they affect me emotionally. It would be like trying to decide which child (if I had children) is my personal favorite. I just couldn't do it because each would hold a special significance to me for completely individual reasons. That's how I feel about these 3 ballads ... I can't decide among them, nor do I want to ... they all exist individually and uniquely on their own.
A Loaded Smile says so many things to me lyrically and emotionally ... just as you described, to me it sounds like someone isn't sure of the relationship ... not sure if it will survive, things have changed, uncertain ... this is so true of so many relationships so I can understand why this song would resonate strongly with so many people ... it speaks.
My favorite musical phrase from this song that really penetrates my heart the most is the refrain: "A loaded smile, an empty glass and one last dance." ... Just these 10 simple words could be the backdrop for an entire screenplay, with all the pathos and drama it evokes. And guess who I choose for the starring role??
its one of my favourite songs on the album. and we feel the floating sensation just as Adam!!! its like we're in a dream and this angel is singing to us
love lots and thanks for your time Adam.
I forgot to say in my earlier comment about "Loaded Smile" that it reminds me of George Michael's "Careless Whisper", another song that really pushes my buttons. Of all Adam's songs, this one seriously gets my head messed up, I guess I identify it with some really painful personal situations. Wow, I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since this Adam's track-by-track clip was posted here. But I do love the song!!
"It's a certain kind of complicated"-- wow, that is for sure.
Life is strange, it plays chess
And in one move, we conquer ,we are conquered
Whoever we are , a part of us is emptied out...
This is what I feel about this song - A Loaded Smile-
Thank you Adam
This is beautiful....
Both this song and "Soaked" are two of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Linda Perry and you make an absolutely fantastic team. Adam, this song is like you-classy, glamorous and eloquent. I love to listen to it and sway to the floating quality. The falsetto intensifies the feeling of floating. Only you have a voice range so magnificent that you could sing this. This song is grand enough to encompass an element of thrill/love and an element of sadness. This is the second song on your album that includes ambiguous feelings. The other is, "What do you want from me?" This use of ambiguous feelings in songs is totally new to me and I really like it. It is groundbreaking. Most feelings involving relationships are multifaceted so your songs more accurately reflect life. You also mentioned that this song could be interpreted as a relationship where one person is more interested in the relationship than the other. That is also a more accurate reflection of life. Even in getting involved in the most satisfying of relationships you are giving up something-your freedom. I love these Track-By-Tracks. Thank you so much for doing them and thank you so much for this song.
I like the Linda Perry composition of what's up, my sister actually likes the band since I was a teenager is old now lol, no, not true, I lie, but if he liked it induced me to listen to their music xDDDDDDDDDD . Adam I love you I will never tire of saying it <3
for every song he is singing he is giving all the best he can and of course he sings from the heart,
chiropractic social media marketing
A Loaded Smile reminds me of a song that could have been on the Saturday Night Fever movie soundtrack from the 70s. Tony Manero and Stephanie would be dancing to it - slow disco style, of course. Thanks for the interpretation, Adam.
Adam is so involved in his songs. And I love how he shares that with us. It makes his music not just something playing in the background, but songs that you actually stop what you are doing and listen to.
He's so awesome. He knows exactly what he sings. I love this song, too
Always great to hear from you. Keep up the wonderful work...xo
It's nice to see that you get so in-depth with the songs and the meaning of them
Not to Meany artist do that so it's nice to see that you do.
I love hearing how well you explain the meaning of the songs. Most people out there wouldn't understand what a song really meant unless it was explained to them and I thank you for taking that extra step in helping people to understand what your meaning is behind the song.
A good example would be about "See You On The Other Side" by Ozzy Osborne. My husband asked me when we first met what I thought it meant, after hearing the song, and I told him that it was about someone dieing and seeing their loved one in heaven. He said most of his friends think its about getting stoned or something of that nature.
So again I thank you for helping those out there, who just don't quite get what you mean, to better understand your music and lyrics.
Much love baby,
Kim
Love hearing the background of each of the songs. It really helps to understand the lyrics besides just loving the sound of them. And I agree completely with KatieJ about Sure Fire Winners. That is my favorite song too and it hasn't gotten any attention. When more people hear it I think it is going to be heard everywhere. Can't wait to see the video of it. There will be one, right???
Wow, this is fun riding in the car with you and having a little chat about an amazing song. I love being lifted into space by this song. My favorite part of the song is
"Makes me want you baby
Can't you feel it, can't you feel it, can't you feel it? "
Thanks for the video, thanks for the song!
beautiful song and beautiful Adam!
But where the hell is he going?? I'm curious . . . =P
I absolutely love this song. One of my favorites of the album. Love the lyrics, love the mood, love the voice, the emotion. I feel like crying everytime I listen to it.
Thank you so much Adam for these track by track videos. They are so interesting. I am looking forward to the next one.
Take care.
This clip made me smile. You appear to on your way to something important
(you look great BTW)
but you make time to talk with us fans. Thank you, Adam.
So this is another song that I feel totally jives with the cover image on the album. Very space-age and sparkly.
When I listen to it, I get the feeling what it must be like to be inside a lava-lamp. Very floaty, calm and enjoyable
Love these vids, Adam. A Loaded Smile is up near the top of my favorites from FYE. The lyrics are intriguing and puzzling yet oddly familiar to anyone who has been in a relationship that is beginning to flounder. Love the dichotomy of it all. Your vocal in this song is enchanting and like liquid velvet.
For me, the bridge on A Loaded Smile is the absolute best musical moment on the entire album. There is something so MJ about it, something I can't quite articulate, but something in the way your vocal meshes with the music there just brings MJ's genius to mind. That bridge knocks my socks off! I get an actual literal high off of it. Every. Single. Time.
Thanks so much for taking the time to do these Track by Tracks for us. It brings even more dimension to an already multi-layered listening experience.
I am SO psyched that Sure Fire Winners is next. That is at THE top of my favorites on FYE. Cannot wait for how this one came about and became the amazing kick ass rock anthem it surely is. That song is gonna be everywhere.
KatieJ
Good Video...i know what you mean and i also love how deep the song is
I love how he is in a car driving off (being driven rather) to someplace and is concerned with posting a video for us fans?!!?? Love it!!! He is so dedicated to us! <3
( note that smilie I just made is not loaded)
This song is the one that I have the most trouble coming to grips with. I guess there's an irony somewhere if I say my feelings about this song mirror the lyrics. I'm completely torn whether I like it or not, lyrically speaking. The phrase "loaded smile" makes me think of someone with an irresistible smile, who brings me to my knees, but who is just really a player and doesn't care on the same level that I care. It's kind of a downer, except that Adam puts such a vocal stamp of emotional authenticity on it that it's beautiful to listen to. I really, really love the falsetto, and I wish there were more of that on the CD. The one thing I have a bad reaction to is that there are places in the song where the electronic sounds drown Adam's voice out too much. There's one spot, I don't know the right technical words for the sound, where it's really competing with Adam vocally, and I swear all I can think when I hear it is "farting chipmunks". I know . . . sorry, just being honest!!! On that basis I have to say this song is not at the TOP of my list. OK, with that I'm going to get some last minute votes in on the VH1 countdown for WWFM.
AWESOME!
Love this song. It's so floating, like Mad World and it's suits your voice to do this type of songs. I like that this one is so diffrent, you can sing anything. You are a star. Can't wait to see you live at a concert.
I simply love this song. The image of a loaded smile is so powerful. Who hasn't experienced that complicated dimension of affection with an underlying doubt? Those smiles try to cover up the turmoil between acceptance and rejection. The depth is soooo real and so much more significant than a typical love song. Ahhhh, Adam, I don't like to pick favorites from such a stellar album, but this one could be it.
One word describes so much about Adam...Beautiful!
I love the lyrics of this song because they are intellectual and sophisticated. it is refreshing in music, like a good book or movie, to have to think about it, reflect a bit. I certainly have experienced in my own life the feelings the song presents. Adam sings it amazingly which provokes even more emotion.
thank you for these track by tracks...so cool.
Adam, thanks for the explanation! I interpret it as one person feeling conflicted about the relationship they're in
I love your thoghts on the song and thank you soo much for taking your time to talk about all of your songs it is awesome of you. I listen to your album constantly and you have a fan for life i love you and i can't wait for your remix realeses.
Love the song Adam. Thank you for including it on your CD.
Love these talks about meanings of song. Loaded smile is so interesting lyrically too
This track was my early favorite before the album came out, and I'm still in love with it. I was confused at first, because the lyrics do seem to contradict one another, but I fully understand it now.
Adam sang the hell outta this song and Linda Perry is an awesome lyricist!
