ADAM'S BIRTHDAY GIFT 2010 ~ We need everyone's participation! Please stop in and read!
Alright peeps, Adam's birthday is just over three months away. Why nobody has started this thread yet is beyond me. We need to start brainstorming the most amazing, magical, glittery birthday gift for Adam EVER. It must surpass all birthday gifts that have ever been given in the history of birthdays. Post your ideas here and maybe we could come up with something spectacular!

I'm going to quote MadLove4Adam, who seemed to word perfectly what everyone wants to give Adam the most. These seem to be the most popular choices so far:
1) a substantial combined donation to Donors Choose (can be big or small, according to our means, and takes only 5 minutes.)
2) a small contribution from each of us toward something material for Adam.... whether it be a Skingraft jacket, the boots, a piece of jewelry. It would be more meaningful to him if 5000 of us each gave a dollar, rather than one person giving $5000..... I''m just pulling a number out of a hat....I have no idea how much these things cost. (We could each send a dollar... or whatever small amount is needed to cover the cost....to someone we trust, who would put it all together and pay for the item.)
3) something sentimental (video, book, card?) that documents a promise that each of us makes to do something on January 29, 2010 that honors who Adam is as a person. It could be something I promise to do for a child in my life, what I will do to right a past wrong, to reconnect with someone I'm estranged from, to reach out to someone who is lonely or shunned......in other words something personal in our own lives that demonstrates a quality we admire in Adam. ("On your birthday, Adam, I promise to............. because you are.............")
This may seem ambitious, but all it takes is organization to put it all together..... and ONE central birthday thread where people can volunteer for a particular job (as kristin141 already has) and which can keep people informed on the progress.
Oh, and I think we should tweet #Happy Birthday, Adam....like we've never tweeted before!

A gorgeous high quality professionally published Adam Coffee Table Book, with all his gorgeous photos from AI and the tour...the photography is awesome out there, and if we all chip in I bet we could all afford to publish the book and make it a hard copy. I bought a little book from mix.com that a fan made, but I envision a large book, with beautiful glossy paper and quotes that he has said throughout the AI journey. Remember that thread that someone created with hundreds of quotes???? This would be special for him. And we could create a dedication page, that says, To Adam, from your adoring fans. Thank you for inspiring us, for moving us deeply, for giving us so much joy. Sending you love on your birthday.....

Betris has volunteered to put together a book (she has access to a bindery) if everyone sends her a page. Kristin141 has volunteered to put together a video if everyone sends her pics. (She has made many videos in the past and is therefore very knowledgeable in this area.) What do we say????????

UPDATE 3:
There has been much discussion about either renting a billboard or placing an ad in a publication (Variety). The billboard or ad would present a happy birthday message to Adam from his AO fans, and it would also direct people to a website. This website would explain the concepts of celebrating diversity, making a difference, and paying it forward. It would include a link to Adam's charity of choice, DonorsChoose and, possibly, links to other charities as well. The site will also have a pay-it-forward program that allows individuals to present and document pay-it-forward promises/testimonials.
The billboard and Variety ideas are being researched (costs and what can be used legally in terms of name/image). We need HELP (please!) from anyone in advertising or entertainment law. We also need someone with experience in graphic design. A major priority right now is finding someone who does website design. Anyone out there who can help? Also, ANYONE who would like to be involved in planning this combined project, please step forward. We need all the help we can get. We're trying to meet every night at 9 pm EST at Janda's party site. I have been working on designs for Adam since Idol. I would like to start a fashion, jewelry and make-up line for him. I gave him a few of my design drawings in August on his tour. I gave him all my contact info, but have not been contacted. I know his life is over-whelming, but I would love to do this for him. I believe in him and know he IS the greatest
"entertainer". I would like to make him one of my designs and send to him for his birthday, which is one week away today. But, where would I send something that would get to HIM, not stolen or lost? My birthday wish for Adam is that every dream and hope for the future he has comes true. I love you Adam.
I agree that this is getting confusing and since the original post is from October, who knows where anyone is with this. It looks like Adam's birthday IS January 29th. I received an automated reply from DonorsChoice last night and will post here AND in a new post as to what their response is. Of course, you can donate on behalf of Adam at any time but would be fun to have a running tally.
And I still have that website so could post birthday messages there unless I got thousands of them and that would be tough.

Could OP 'erase' things from the original post that are 'out' for sure and leave just what is now being considered? Also found Adam's birthday 1/29 in one of the other posts but I was not sure the exact date either and your OP still says 3 months away, etc.

It's called DonorsChoice.org. But the last time, something was set up so it was noted that people donated in Adam's name. Let me see if there's some way we can do that again. I'll check.
What is his charity? I think that's a great idea, birthday or not, but if we can make a big impact on his birthday...all the better!

I think Adam would love it if we donate to his charity. He himself has said he doesn't want or need material gifts. I will be donating to Doner's Choice on his birthday in his honor. If we all do and make it the biggest one day gift they have ever received it will make a huge positive impact for Adam
The website could serve as a huge birthday card. Anyone familiar with the Post Secret website? You could send a small jpeg photo or drawing with your message to Adam ON it and it could get posted on the website. OR you could give back to your community - a musical concert at a nursing home or donate an instrument to a local school - and we could post those 'Adam Inspired Gifts' on the website.
OR we could just use the website to wish Adam a Happy Birthday from all his fans and link to DonorsChoice.
Just some thoughts.

Great for the kids we help and great public relations for Adam and his fans.
Where are we with this? Great ideas....I love them all! Have global decisions been made? Do we contact the originator of the concept that gets us most excited? Would like to get involved...but want my effort and finances to serve a unified purpose.

I think there's power in all of us donating again to Donors Choose for a couple of reasons:
1. It's a great organization
2. Making a large donation in Adam's name will bring positive attention to Adam and to his fanbase.
Well, for me, the cool thing is, Adam's birthday is the same day as my mom's (and she's a Glambert, too.) But the bad news is that I don't have a lot of money, and that means I can't make any major contributions to anything monetarily if I'm gonna get Mom something nice, and in all honesty, she still comes first.
If something comes up and for some reason we need a San Diego conspirator, though, I'm your girl.
All of these ideas sound great!
Just another thought, we could all donate blood - the "gift of life" and keep a tally here of how much was donated on behalf of Adam Lambert. Costs nothing and makes such a huge difference.
This just came to my mind now. I don't know if this idea was already posted here but I think that, along with the donation to Donors Choose, fans could organize a bone marrow donation. In each city and country, let's make Adam proud of his fans on his birthday!

I like the idea of Coffee Table book for Adam. I don't have any idea how much it might cost to make one. But I am willing to contribute with others whoever wants to contribute for this. I really think that It's a very thoughtful gift just for him.

Since Adam has already chosen a charity and said that he wants us to donate to that in lieu of sending gifts I will do that. A mass tweet would be fun to do as well.
I honestly think he would be happiest if we all donated to Donors Choose. We can all send him a nice letter or something, too, of course. But no gifts!
The reason I say we shouldn't send him actual gifts is because he said in an interview that, as much as he does appreciate the gifts, he would rather people spend their money on a cause instead of on him.

The pendant we are trying to have custom made for Adam will be his album's release date in roman numerals. Like Teris said anyone interested should come to the chat, link in OP. Hope to see you guys there!
@flaminga and everyone interested: We have been continuing to forge ahead with the pay-it-forward website, and plan to open the site at least a few weeks before Adam's birthday so we can present him with an active/in-progress pay-it-forward program that is inspired by him. (Over the course of the next year we'd like to develop this further to include partnerships with and links to charitable organizations - maybe even develop our own non-profit organization.)
We also are planning to have a pendant/necklace made to send to Adam for his birthday.
The billboard idea has been shelved (for this year at least), because we encountered legal difficulties in terms of using Adam's name, image, or even any sort of text/symbol/representation that could be identified with him on the billboard.
We still need more help with these projects. There are about six or seven of us who have been working on these plans, and several of us have been meeting at Janda's party (ning) site almost every night. If you are interested in being involved in these projects, PLEASE join us. We meet at 9 pm EST, and the link to Janda's site is in the OP. We need help with things like compiling a list of payitforward/kindness/giving ideas for website users to reference on the website, researching cool effects that we can use on the website, figuring out how we're going to monitor the site adequately, etc.
I love the idea of a contribution by AO fans to donorschoose in Adam's name. Maybe set up an account online here and everyone can contribute and on his birthday that amount can be sent to the charity. Perhaps a link to paypal so it would be somewhat secure. I'm not sure how to accomplish that but I would be willing to contribute to a collective donation.

I'd like to have everyone who contributed to Adam's album (Lady Gaga, Pink, Bellamy, etc.) and even like Brian May, Meatloaf, and Slash to contribute in some way, maybe a quick "Happy Birthday Adam" on video or something.
whatever we do we should make sure the media picks it up. RollingStone might be able to help with that. He has so many supporters in the media, there's got to be someone who can get it to all the celeb talk shows. That'd be great promo for the album. Whatever you-all decide, I'm in. But I don't think anything material for Adam would work, only because he's already said not to do that.

I've voted for the following idea before and will again. I think this will move Adam. I don't think he needs 'things" and I wonder how often he would look at a book of photos of himself...

After obtaining information regarding the legalities involved in using Adam's name, likeness, or even terms/characteristics that could be attributed to him on a billboard or ad, we have shelved the billboard/ad portion of the project (at least for now). In addition, the legal info. obtained also pertains to and affects the website project, and it looks as though a great deal more effort/time will be required to develop the website than we had first imagined. Consequently, although development of the website project (pay-it-forward/charity) will continue, completing it in time for Adam's birthday no longer appears to be a feasible goal. If it is to be presented as a birthday gift to Adam, this would not happen until his birthday in 2011 (and it could very well take that long to complete the website project fully). I apologize for the disappointing news. I do want to thank everyone who has been involved in the brain-storming/planning/organizing up to this point. Also, we will need all the help we can get with the website project, so if you are interested, please come and help us brain-storm, research, and plan. It looks like we will continue to meet (I'm not sure how frequently) at Janda's party site (link in OP).

my bday is january 17...i wish we could celebrate together but haha it would be good to just do something good for someone in need in his name bet that would make him feel good if he knew.
