I'm a fan and you should be too because....If you have followed Adam's journey from the San Francisco audition through to the fabulous Finale, there is no real reason to have to explain to anyone why I am an Adam Lambert fan - his performance record speaks for itself. But, in this case, by definition there is so much more to being a fan than just the appreciation for the performance. It is deeper than that, far deeper than recognizing him for his undeniable vocal prowess or his incredible fashion sense, far deeper than the lurking "Elvis Presley" sneer or the intense magnetism of his heavily "guylined" eyes. For me, it goes as deep as the heart and the soul, and Adam Lambert has exhibited plenty of both.
I have been so amazed all season long at the comments from people regarding their dislike for Adam's conceit and arrogance, and I have wondered if they were, in fact, watching the same person. I never noticed any of that in him; what I saw was someone very secure in his abilities, with the swaggering confidence to back those abilities up. And yet, through it all, week after week, he appeared to be so humbled by this journey, amazed at and grateful for the acceptance of his artistry, eager to please and to perform, to give credit where credit was due, to offer up his thanks and, as one judge would say on more than one occasion, "to take it all in," to learn from it and grow with it.
He capably and coyly managed, under such scrutiny of matters that should have been his and his alone to address, to remain true to who he is as a person, to make an undeniable case that it is "cool" to be different, and to embrace those differences both in yourself and in others, to accept who you are and to be comfortable in your own skin. To those who have written on forums across the Internet that Adam Lambert would not make a good Idol, I say that in every sense he embodies the true spirit of what an Idol should be.
Everything about Adam has touched me and left such a lasting impression, and while I am old enough to be his mother, I am young enough to understand that his universal appeal is far greater than just the talent he has been so obviously blessed with. There is, under all that flash and glitter, a real human being of incredible depth and measure.
And, in the face of "defeat" (certainly not the word I would have chosen to describe the finish to his American Idol journey), he has again held himself in a manner befitting his very nature, that of humility and grace, and it has only served to make my impression of him that much stronger. This is a young man so deserving of the accolades that have yet to be bestowed upon him and so worthy of our ever-present reverence. If it signifies that I am proud to celebrate my admiration of Mr. Adam Lambert, I am now and will always happily be a GLAMBERT!
Thank you ADAM for daring to dream and daring to be!
"An angel swept you off your feet"......yes, actually, he did, a while ago, a dark angel with a little bit of the devil mixed in purely for our pleasure....and our entertainment! This video is such a perfect, sexually-driven romp - great visuals and a superb vocal! Can't wait to put this one on my Ipod!
