From the moment I heard Adam sing "Satisfaction" on AI, I knew he was something special. I immediately became interested in season 8 - but as an added bonus, I discovered he was from Mt. Carmel High School - where my daughter graduated from in 2008. So with a great sense of "Sundevil Pride" I watched this young man week after week CONSISTENTLY blow the competition away. Not only were the other contestants NOT in his LEAGUE, they werent' even playing the same SPORT!
I became a FAN right after ROF (indulgent rubbish, my tushie). I became a slightly obsessed fan after TOMT. It was at that point I created my t-shirt wtih 10 pictures of Adam's gorgeous face all over. I then taught myself how to download I-tunes!!! Now I own every song and video from his collection - and listen to them from the moment I wake up (literally, one of his songs is playing in my head when I wake up) and take several "Adam breaks" throughout the day. I carry my Ipod speaker system around similarly to guys in the 80's with their boom-boxes, so that at any given moment I can hear or watch an Adam performance! And as a 43 year old woman, I am not even embarrassed to say that right now I am wearing black nail polish!
The day that Adam came to Mt. Carmel HS for the rally/parade etc. I was fortunate enough to be there! And although I am the President of the Drama Boosters, I didn't get a chance to sit in on the private meet&greet with the Drama/Choir kids. But God knew my heart and allowed me the opportunity to be down on the football field - take pictures - and as the icing on the cake, I was able to hold his left arm as he was holding my right arm while he rode on the back of the convertible. I said "Adam - I made this shirt for you" as I showed him my design. He said "that's cool" and I said "I hope you get the book that the Boosters made for you" and he said "I hope so, too". Then I said "I just LOVE you/" And he said "I love you too" and it was the most magical moment of my life.
I am a COMPLETE fan now, because Adam has inspired so many people with his attitude, his talent, his dedication, his love of all people, and his humility. I hope to actually meet him someday (other than on the back of a car) and tell him how much he means to the world. He will be legendary - and I feel fortunate to have witnessed it in this lifetime.
Adam, thank you for supporting the troops. And not just in that "I'll do it for the publicity" way - I know you really mean it. I was in the Army for 7 years and now my job allows me to ship all the San Diego recruits out to bootcamp everyday. What an honor to spend time with amazing people who write the blank check, payable to the United States, up to and including the cost of their lives.
Love and Glitter!
