I'm a fan (and you should be too) because...
I have memories of Adam in high school, performing in The Secret Garden, Pirates of Penzance (not sure I spelled that right), and other plays. We were not in the same graduating class (I was a 98, Adam was 2000) and sadly we did not know each other well. We had drama together for two (I think ?) semesters, but that was it.
However, it always stuck in my mind, all these years, that Adam was always decent to me. I hope I was polite to him, too (I can't say that for sure now - I was an obnoxious teenager). I was always happy to come back to our school to see the latest plays - the ones I mentioned were done after I graduated - and so I guess I've been a fan of Adam's since then. He was one of the best actors and singers in the school, no small feat with over 3000 students.
From what I've observed, Adam seems unchanged by all the attention. He seems very much the same to me, but more comfortable with himself. I think that makes him more fun to watch than ever and I'm so happy to see him so happy. He's older and more mature, but not much different (except the hair).
I love the CD, partly because the voice is so familiar to me. I recognize voices even when I haven't heard them in years. In fact, I recognized Adam on American Idol when I heard him speaking. He did not look like the (hazy) memory of the high school kid I had in mind, but I knew the voice instantly.
My favorite tracks are "For Your Entertainment", "Whataya Want From Me", "Aftermath", "Broken Open", and "Time For Miracles". My four-year-old son loves "Sure Fire Winners".
I made sure to watch Oprah, and you did so well. I'm so happy that you are happy.
To Keyboard - grrrrr.
